The programme provides you with analytical, methodological and practical skills that enable you to integrate and manage product development processes in technical fields. Products developed in this program may be physical products, concepts or technical services.
After completing the programme, you will find yor professional niche at the nexus point of overlapping fields of expertise involved in developing new products, and you will stand out as the one with the skills to communicate, present and integrate the different fields of expertise in various product development activities, ultimately resulting in the an optimum and future-proof product for consumers and users.

CONTENT AND STRUCTURE
The BA programme in Product Development & Integrative Technology is a top-up programme for various academy profession programmes and therefore only takes 1½ years to complete (90 ECTS).
During the first two semesters (5th and 6th semesters), you are introduced to the theory of the discipline and learn about necessary methods and tools etc., for example, in connection with ideation and project management. During the last semester (7th semester), you will take an internship and write your bachelor project.
As a student in the programme, you must complete the following obligatory elements:
- Theoretical Product Development
- Professional Product Development and Design
- Interdisciplinary Product Development and Design
- Sustainability in Product Development
The obligatory elements are largely based on project work, and as part of the teaching activities, you and your fellow students will learn more about technological project work, theory of science and methods as well as integrative technology.
A small part of the study programme is divided into three specialisations, depending on your qualifying academy profession programme:
- Development of products and production – for AP graduates in Production Technology
- Automation and installation – for AP graduates in Automation Engineering, Energy Technology or Service Engineering (Plumbing Technology and High-voltage Technology)
- IT/electronics – for AP graduates in IT Technology
On the individual specialisations, targeted teaching will be offered about innovation and product development, and you will be introduced to construction and planning of projects as well as environmental issues and sustainability.
During the 7th semester, you will find an internship. The internship period is ten weeks (corresponding to 15 ECTS points) and takes place in a relevant company, where you can try out everything you have learned in the programme. You can take your internship at an industrial company, a small or medium-sized design agency, a firm of architects etc.
Your internship adviosr at KEA will help you with any practical questions concerning your internship with a host company which you must find yourself.
The teaching activities are organised in such a way that the teaching methods underpin the disciplinary content being worked on.
The teaching activities include:
- Classroom instruction, problem-based learning, case work and project work with presentation and opponent activities
- Guidance in connection with individual and joint assignments, e.g. in connection with project work
- Reading groups, study groups and workshops
