As a Marketing Manager you are prepered for a career in advertising, marketing, media, finance or shipping.
With an AP Degree in Marketing Management you will get the skills and competences to carry out planning, organising and implementation within a wide field of work in international companies.
This degree covers the areas of marketing, sales, management, communication and economics, and how they interrelate in a business.
You get a thoroughgoing knowledge about the various factors affecting sales, and you get an understanding of how to create the best conditions in a business, with customers and suppliers, as well as internally.
You will learn to understand challenges and tasks regarding customers, sales and marketing, and you will be able to manage your own assignments very quickly when you get a job.
Marketing Management is a 2-year AP degree, which includes mandatory subjects, an area of specialization, a 3-month internship and a final project.
What you learn
You learn to plan marketing and sales, enabling you to contribute to the company’s general and international strategy. We also focus on the importance of involving other departments in the company, as well as taking into consideration the world around you, along with legislation, in order to make the best marketing decisions.
At IBA International Business Academy we combine theory with practice. Learning and teaching includes practical assignments, group work, and case studies, with challenges from real businesses. Classroom lectures are a combination of blended learning, company visits, and other activities, including business competitions and special events.
The AP Degree Programme is a 2-year full-time higher education study programme, taught in English and is approved by The Danish Ministery of Education which will give you a Degree in International Marketing Management.

During semester 3, you will choose a larger elective package, giving
you the opportunity to specialize within an area that you find
inspiring – and that will prove useful in shaping your career.
The electives (of 3 or 4 subjects) provides you with additional tools, within a range of areas which are of particular interest to companies.
Amongst others you’ll find Digital Marketing, a module we develop in close collaboration with our Continuing Professional Development department (‘Kursusafdelingen’), which is a leading provider of education within that field. You can also choose subjects centring for example on Sales, Communication or Innovation. With these elective subjects you get the opportunity to work on projects and exercises similar to those actually encountered in the business world. You will form teams, each of which is then responsible for overseeing its own projects and exercises, and for coming up with appropriate recommendations and advice.
You can choose 3 or 4 electives from among the following:
- Digital Marketing
- Business Law (Start Ups)
- Consumer Behaviour
Please note that electives will only be offered if a sufficient number of students sign up.
Study environment and teaching method
Teaching takes place in classes comprising between 25 and 35 students, giving you an excellent opportunity to build a thriving social life with your fellow students. You will experience teaching approaches emphasizing theory as well as practice.
Instruction is based on projects, many of which take place in cooperation with local and national businesses, and the tasks are normally carried out in groups. You must be prepared to make an independent effort and also to cooperate with your fellow students.
Some of the project tasks, and the final project in particular, are independent tasks that you carry out on the basis of the theory that you have learned. The projects should be based on specific cases from businesses, insofar as this is possible. You will be given good advice and constructive criticism along the way.
During the 3rd semester you will choose a company for an internship where you focus on relevant issues from the company, depending upon your interests.
An internship offers you the chance to learn-by-doing in a way where you are supervised by professionals.
The Internship will give you a valuable industry knowledge, insight into the company and the work involved.
You work alongside a professionals and will gain valuable industry experience that will kick-start your career.
You have excellent opportunities to give your studies an adventurous touch by going abroad and do your internship in another country. You can find your international internship yourself or choose one of the companies your university cooperates with. Students often choose to go to New Zealand, China and other Asian countries. You can also choose an internship in your own country.
During your studies you will see both a careers advisor and a company consultant from IBA Business, who will provide dialogue and guidance around exactly what a targeted application and an effective CV should contain.
As a student you also have the option of an individual session, in which a careers advisor from IBA Business will go through the CV and the application with you, and together you’ll plan for the next stage of the process.
IBA Business has a strong network of previous internship companies, both in Denmark and abroad, and students from IBA are very much in demand. Many students from the programme seek out their own internships, while others work alongside IBA Business, who regularly receive job announcements for both internships and permanent positions.
IBA Business also holds various different activities for IBA alumni (i.e. former IBA students).
Before you embark on an internship you will also be invited to a careers day at IBA, to which a range of companies is invited, all of them looking for an intern just like you.
Both careers advice and internships are to help get you fully prepared for the business world.
Students, companies and IBA alike all have a shared responsibility to create good relationships, and to ensure that each party gains something positive from the student’s internship within the company. IBA Business has solid experience of securing an internship placement for every student.
When studying Marketing Management, you have various options for gaining additional international experience. You can study abroad for a semester. We have many partner schools to choose from, or you can find your own.
Furthermore, there is a wide range of short-term international opportunities, providing the possibility for students to strengthen their ability to work within a multicultural environment, broaden their international network, and develop skills related to the studies, such as study visits, international marketing and business weeks.
Students are motivated to play an active role in their own learning process. Apart from attending traditional lectures, students learn to work in international environment, to engage in project groups, express themselves and apply critical thinking, and are encouraged to participate in open discussions with their teachers and fellow students.
Students work with specific and real-life cases which includes projects in groups, seminars, company visits and study tours abroad. During classes, students participate in group works with fellow students solving challenging and educative tasks.
As a marketing manager, you are able to get a wide range of jobs within marketing, sales and communications, in Danish as well as international companies.

You can be responsible for sales and customers, or work with communications. In the longer term, you can become head of a marketing department, or a product or key account manager.
