The main focus will be understanding how businesses operating in the fields of service, leisure and business tourism as well as hotels and restaurants work.

The Service, Hospitality and Tourism Management programme will qualify you to independently work within development, planning, implementing and delivering services at a national and international level.


The Service, Hospitality and Tourism programme is designed to combine theory with practice. The first two as well as the fourth semesters are taught at the academy through a combination of classroom teaching, projects, case studies, guest speakers and company visits. During the first half of the third semester, theory is applied in practice through an internship in a company of your choice. The second half takes place at the academy.

Programme Structure

The programme consists of five core areas: Methodology, Service Industry, Organization, Planning, Communication.

The core areas of the programme consist of cross-disciplinary programme components, specialization programme components, an internship and a Final exam project, totaling 120 ECTS.


The Core Areas:


Here you will work with methodology and social sciences in order to understand how different theories work and to learn how to interpret both qualitative and quantitative data.

You will be introduced to various scientific approaches and will exercise your ability to communicate orally and in writing.

This core area will teach you how to:

  • Design investigations
  • Gather and analyze data
  • Work individually as well as in groups
  • Communicate issues and solutions

Service Industry

Through three individual modules, you will learn about the development and structure of the service industry at both national and international level.

You will also be introduced to service management and delivery systems and will gain understanding about legal conditions which are crucial for service companies.

This core area will teach you how to:

  • Improve service management systems and concepts
  • Establish productive customer relations including loyalty and quality
  • Identify legal issues regarding contract formations and marketing of the service company


Here you will work with subjects such as leadership, project management, Human Resources and Organization.  You will learn how to choose an appropriate project planning methodology, to communicate managerial decisions and HR policies of the service company.

Moreover, you will be introduced to project management tools.

This core area will teach you how to:

  • Perform HR functions according to the overall HR strategy of the company
  • Participate in processes of change and development
  • Take responsibility, plan and manage a project from start to finish


Here you will gain valuable skills within a wide range of subjects such as creativity and innovation, business development and service economics.

You will learn how to use relevant tools for managing innovation processes and will take part in developing a company’s strategic plan.

Moreover, you will be taught about Service Marketing and Trends in order to better understand concepts such as customer behavior, internationalization and customer relations.

This core area will teach you how to:

  • Develop a business plan
  • Perform and implement customer behavior analysis
  • Bring your contribution to developing the strategic marketing of the service company and its marketing plan

Service Economics

Here you will learn about the relevant elements in the financial operation of a company. You will study pricing methods, revenue management and budgeting. You will also make tools of relevant IT tools for handling economic issues.

This core area will teach you how to:

  • Prepare an annotated financial analysis
  • Assess the company’s financial development
  • Carry out a calculation of the company’s profitability of an investment
  • Understand socio-economic conditions


Here you will study about fundamental communication theories, focusing on negotiation and presentation techniques. You will gain the necessary skills to understand the importance of business networking, efficient communication and execution of meetings and presentations.

This core area will teach you how to:

  • Communicate practice-oriented and professional issues and solutions
  • Negotiate effectively
  • Communicate in English in a business context both orally and in writing


Choosing a specialization will give you the opportunity to improve your study and professional competencies.

Hotel and Restaurant Management

With this specialization, you will be qualified to independently plan and carry out significant management-related and specialized work tasks in hotel, conference and restaurant companies.

You will obtain a deeper understanding of the industry and therefore the ability to put the guest at the forefront as well as evaluate the business methods and revenue generation capacity.

Furthermore, you will develop knowledge of national and international hotel and restaurant concepts.

Tourism Management

With this specialization, you will gain the knowledge and understanding, skills and competencies to be able to carry out coordinating and advisory functions in tourism companies and organizations.

From an understanding of the destination as a central element, you will gain an understanding of tourism companies’ and organizations’ roles in the tourism industry.

Sport and Event Management


In order to create the right balance between your theoretical knowledge and your ability to apply it in practice, you must spend three months as an intern in an organization. Through the internship, you will contribute to creating value for the company while also developing your personal and professional competencies.

The internship experience will give you a grate insight on life into the real-business world after graduation.

The aim of the internship is to ensure real-life competencies and the development of professional and personal vocational competencies. 

You will solve practical problems on a methodical basis by using relevant theories and models, and thus creating value for the company.

You will find an internship in close collaboration with your internship counselor, and together with the internship company you will set the framework and criteria for the placement. All internships must be approved by the Academy in order to ensure the quality and relevance of the internship.

The first period at your new place of study things can be overwhelming and surprising because a lot of things you have been accustomed to in your home country or from your high school will be different.

You will find several exams during your first year in several different subjects.
